A PRICE OF MOTHERHOOD

A Price of Motherhood borrows the formats women use to make their lives legible to others: footnotes, floor plans, flow charts, legal citations, style guides, sticky notes. All are drawn by hand with rulers, protractors and sometimes a projector, so the precision is itself labor. The works chart care, interruption, logistics and the reduction of a full life into something tidy enough to hand over. Their order is a courtesy to the viewer, one that costs the woman who provides it. Each piece is both a picture of that labor and another instance of it.
